Mission
Our mission is to be an authentic, family-friendly church that loves people unconditionally. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals and families can feel accepted, supported, and encouraged in their faith journey.
What's the Story?
The Point Church, known initially as Southpoint Church of God, was founded by Pastor Gaylon Taylor. Pastor Gaylon and his wife Debbie Taylor did a miraculous work by providing the community with a loving and fruitful ministry. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, and Pastor of Southpoint Church of God. The Church flourished through various other ministries and ministers, such as Pastors Trent & Kelli Taylor and later, David and Elaine Walker, who served Southpoint COG for 8 years. They sustained during difficult times, specifically the 2021 COVID-19 pandemic.
On July 23, 2023, Zachary Decker was assigned Lead Pastor of Southpoint Church of God through Bishop Charles Fischer. Pastor Decker navigated the church with a new vision through the Power of the Holy Spirit. God revealed to him a vision of a Church that is not ruled by time, but by the Spirit. Pastor Deckers' leadership has invited National talent such as Thomas Griffin, who helped establish a greater presence and anointing.
The Church has established multiple ministries since relaunching in 2024, such as Women's Ministry through Laura Decker, Men's Ministry through Danny Decker, Prayer Ministry through Carol and Tiffany McCuin, and Marriage Ministry through Robert and Reagan Walls. Outreach Pastors Carl and Ginger Warner have helped the church reach the lost and hurting through Celebrate Recovery. The Church also elevated Matt & Tori Cornwell as Youth Pastors in 2025. The Church has become known for its genuine love for God and others, and its compassion has helped many families and ministries. We are excited to see the building undergo a revitalization process that has returned it to its former glory.
